What can I expect from counseling?Counseling is most effective when it is a collaborative effort. It is exremely important that you are involved in identifying treatment goals and a course of action. We will work together to outline the areas that you would like to work on and make a plan to address these areas. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy; therefore we will create a treatment plan that is specific to you and takes into consideration your preferences in regards to treatment type (talk therapy, EMDR, TF-CBT) and frequency & length of treatment. We will frequently re-assess your progress and goals and can make changes a long the way. Your success is my priority, so I appreciate any feedback which enables me to improve your therapeutic experience. If there is something that is not working for you or something you would like to try in order to achieve your goals, please let me know. I consider you the expert in your life and am here to serve as a guide on your journey to health and wellness.

How long are sessions and how many times per week do we meet?Sessions are 55 minutes. 90 minute sessions are also an option, and can be particularly beneficial for couples or families. Most clients are seen once a week in the beginning, then, as time goes on, less frequently. The number of sessions depends on what your current needs are.

How long will I be in counseling? The length of time a client is in counseling depends the nature of the problem and the goals of the counseling. Some clients have a very specific problem that can be worked through in a set course of counseling. For others, counseling is an on-going learning process and they choose to receive counseling for a longer period.

Where is your office located?I currently only practice via Telehealth sessions in Texas. I believe that online sessions create accessibility for everyone and allow clients to engage in sessions wherever is convenient and comfortable for them. If you have questions or concerns about therapy utilizing video and audio services please let me know and I am happy to discuss the benefits of these services.

What should I do if I have an emergency outside of session? For severe or life-threatening psychiatric situations, immediately call 911 or visit your nearest emergency room. You can also contact the Williamson County Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MOT) at 512-864-8277. For non-life-threatening issues, you are welcome to phone me and leave a message. Calls are generally returned within 24 hours during the work week. And therapeutic care/consultation telephone calls beyond five (5) minutes are charged at the session rate on a pro-rated basis. Some clients prefer to communicate via email, but due to electronic privacy issues I do not discuss clinical information via e-mail or text message.
